Let your fingers do the talking RIGHT HERE...sound off [and that's not a reference to some pussy outfit masquerading as a rock station] on anything you see or read...Remember...This blog isn't about me, it's about YOU...I'll throw shit up but it's YOU that decides what sticks...So whether you've got a beef or want to ham it up - of some other lunchmeat reference - let's see what you've got.....Fin [The Artist Formerly Known As 'Dolphin' over at 'that other place you used to like' as you call it]

I owe Eddie Van Halen and apology.  I was pissed at him these past few years for allowing his demons to obscure his talent and his ability.  Last night at US Bank Arena I spent two hours with a smile plastered on my face watching the guy flawlessly execute some of the most important riffs of his life...and mine.  i don't know if it was the fingerwork, the grin or the sounds that only his guitar can make but I was transoported back to a time when the only thing that mattered were 'bras' - my getting into my girlfriend's bra - and out of Algebra.  I wasn't alone.

Everybody knows that David Lee Roth should be a Ringling Brothers ringmaster - including Dave.  But to see those guys on that stage actually putting aside a couple of decades of bullshit to give everyone in that arena what they came for was as refreshing a concert experience as I've had in a long time....The DVD of this show should be required viewing for bands trying to figure o ... What a lineup of shows we've got coming to the area this summer, eh?  Now, the question is...how many of them can you afford to actually attend....?

To their credit, the Motley Crue guys got it right....[i know it's the promoter who did it, I would just rather give the band the credit] - 4 lawn seats for 99$...not bad....but still.....

With gas prices approaching MILK levels and everything else pounding on your paycheck the way that it is, I want to know:  How many shows will you really be able to see this season?

Which one do you want to see most that you will probably have to pass on because of price or lack of disposable income....

Just curious..

See you at the show....maybe

I was checking out Sister Karen's blog and she brought up an interesting topic; what's that band that disappointed you the most when you went to see them live.....

I, too, have a similar question:  Who is the band you've become the most disappointed in over the years.....period.

Mine? Red Hot Chili Peppers.....Old school Peppers put out some of the most challenging music I had ever heard.  Honestly, I can barely stomach anything they've done in the past 15 years.

Apparently I'm in the minority because they still get the shit played out of the 'post '95' offering; here and elsewhere.

So...Now it's your turn.....who do YOU think had it and lost it.....

Really....Leave him alone...In a 6'x8' cell....for a long time....What a tool! - There's probably not much more to be said about this further embarrassment to an already reeling franchise.  This loser was begin paid over half a million dollars to, let's see, what was it again-- find a cure for cancer? no, that's not it...um....transport meds into third world countries? nope.....Oh yeah, I remember...to CATCH A FOOTBALL - which he didn't even do very well last year.

MEANWHILE - Captain Robin Broxterman and Brian Schira, two Colerain firefighters were tragically killed on Friday saving the lives of two people in their community; my guess is that they went to work for to work for a little less than half a mil a year - and didn't gripe about it....will be missed....

It's a phrase that has different meanings depending upon the inflection and/or attitude with which it's spoken.  While 'what do YOU want' has often been lobbed at yours truly with a level of annoyance - [for instance, when i try to cop a feel from the Mrs.] - in this case it's an honest question about what YOU, the 96ROCKHEAD, wants.

Aside from 'More Pantera, Dude' - I'd love to know what you're looking for in a radio station.  We all like to think we know - and the research companies that have cropped up over the past two decades love to charge us to tell us what the same few people each week tell them THEY want - but here it is...out in the open.....what DO you want?  I'm curious... Do you give a shit about 10 in a row THIS or long blocks of THAT?

Hell, you don't even have to confine your comments to radio....You can feel free to let it all hang out and tell me what you want with regard to anything - unle ... Read More »

"Dolphin? Is that you?"

Yes....yes it is.....

I've had that question asked of me on the phone at least a thousand times over the past few weeks...I am indeed the 'artist formely known as Dolphin' - a man, who in 2004 left the Queen City to spend three years in a city that God hates so much he unleashed tornadoes upon its downtown twice this past weekend.

I went to Atlanta to work for a broadcasting company that still operates some stations here in town [or at least they did last time I checked - which was last August].

Then something really cool happened. They fired me last fall after 16 years of service.

I say 'really cool' beause it allowed me to re-connect with many old friends who've also moved to this company [Cumulus] over the past few years and when the Rock Beast that is 96ROCK hatched in December of 2007, I was invited to come and play. & ... Read More »

Call it reverse psychology if you like but I've dedided that I don't like the Sun.  I don't care if I ever see it again.

In fact, Sun, if you are reading this [as I feel sure you are as many giant masses of gas check out this blog on a daily basis] - here's my message to you: STAY BEHIND THE CLOUDS!!!! - Don't come near me or the people for whom I care!!! Do you hear me?

No matter what happens DO NOT, I repeat: do NOT show yourself or I'll be forced to build wings of feathers and wax and fly to you to handle this man to eh, giant star - [pipe smoking professors and Iron Maiden fans that was for you]

Did it work? [checking outside my window - - - - ].....Shit.

Oh well....another gray day....what the hell.....I suppose I don't feel as bad for myself as I do for the Tristate's chlorophyll...

Back to my Liquid Paper huffing......

Peace,

Dear Delta....

My name is (insert name here)...I just wanted to thank you.  Recently, I booked a flight to go see my family in one of your hub cities that isn't Cincinnati.  In case one of your PR folks is reading this - it rhymes with Shatblantuh.

Thanks to you, I am going to be able to fly home to see my family for Easter for just under $400.00 - REALLY!! only $400....

....and all I had to do was book it thru Priceline.com....and be willing to fly out of Dayton....at 6 in the morning.  But none of this would have been possible if you hadn't offered this flight on one of your 'partner' airlines for the low, low price of $400....instead of the $1000.00 you wanted me to pay to take a shorter flight, that presumably would use less fuel, out of Cincinnati.

Golly...I don't know what to do with the $600.00 I'm saving....maybe I'll buy a couple of gallons of milk of use it ... Read More »
