Linkin Park plans to cut down the space between new studio releases this time around, hoping not to repeat the four-year gap between 2003's Meteora and 2007's Minutes to Midnight. Singer Mike Shinoda says that the band members have been working on new material for a while and that he's even found time to record some demos while on tour: "Actually I've been doing a couple of studio dates out on the road, which is new for me. I did a date when we were touring in Germany, one date in Prague, a bunch of dates in New York, and I'm excited about that. It's been very cool for us. So long story short, we've been putting in a lot of work and hopefully we could have a new record out next year."
Linkin Park is in the midst of its Projekt Revolution tour, which stops in Charlotte, North Carolina on tomorrow (July 30th) and rolls through Riverbend on August 15th!

The lineup of artists who will participate in the Ozzfest all-star tribute to late Pantera and Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott has been announced. Abbott's brother and bandmate Vinnie Paul will play drums and serve as musical director, with Kirk Hammett from Metallica, Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez from Alice In Chains, Chad Gray from Mudvayne and Hellyeah, Kerry King from Slayer, Scott Ian and Charlie Benante from Anthrax, Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed and King Diamond all confirmed to appear. The musicians will all congregate onstage after Hellyeah's set to pay tribute to Abbott with a set featuring numerous Pantera classics.
Abbott was shot dead by a crazed gunman on December 8th, 2004 while performing at a Columbus, Ohio nightclub with Damageplan.

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis will release a DVD this fall filmed on his first solo European tour. The disc will include footage from his June 16th, 2008 concert in London, England, and will be available as both a single DVD package and an expanded set also containing a CD and other yet-to-be-announced bonus features. There's no word yet on an exact release date for the set. Davis is also said to be working on his first solo album, but little information has surfaced about the project yet.
Davis launched his first-ever solo tour in late 2007 in the U.S., performing a mix of Korn rarities, unreleased material and soundtrack songs.
Meanwhile, Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer has issued an update on his own solo project, a new band called Fear and the Nervous System. He wrote, "Let me start by saying I am not leaving Korn. I started this project because I want to express myself musically and show the world a different side of me, ...

Mudvayne have covered up the contents of their myspace page and replaced it with a mysterious flash video that simply states “It’s happening, it’s coming, are you ready?” accompanied by static and music in the background. The flash video itself is titled “Serial Killer”, which could be a track title, album title, or something else completely.
A new studio album is tentatively due out in November.

Theory of a Deadman continues to make noise on the rock radio charts with the second single Bad Girlfriend from its recently released third album, Scars and Souvenirs. The track's up-tempo feel and raunchy, funny lyrics are not the usual fare from the Canadian group. Guitarist Dave Brenner said that's why he thinks the song is a hit: "It shows a different side of Theory of a Deadman. The past albums have been pretty heavy content-wise and this one shows more of a sense of humor to Theory of a Deadman and it's really fun to play live. The fans dig it."
And you fans can dig it this weekend cause Theory of a Deadman will team up with Shinedown and Black Stone Cherry for a stretch of summer tour dates beginning this Sunday in Covington, Kentucky at the Madison Theatre. Listen tomorrow morning to the 2 Angry Guys for your chance to win our final pair and get backstage to hang with the bands before the ...

Hinder hits the road for the first time since last fall last night when it began it's summer U.S. swing with Staind and headliners 3 Doors Down. Asked if his hard-partying band was looking forward to touring again with some old friends, frontman Austin Winkler said they were ready for action: "(Laughs) Yes, we try to make the best of every bill, but, you know, Staind, they're amazing guys, and the guys in 3 Doors are awesome, and we're gonna have a great tour for sure. I'm sure a lot of debauchery going on."
The new tour will stretch through the entire summer and end in late September. It rolls through Riverbend on September 6th with Finger Eleven replacing Staind. Hinder will release its second album, titled Take It To The Limit, on November 4th.
