Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker was released from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, on Monday morning (September 29th), according to MTV.com. Barker was at the center for nine days after suffering severe second and third degree burns in a plane crash that killed four people and also seriously injured DJ Adam "AM" Goldstein late in the evening on Friday, September 19th. Barker was treated for burns on his torso and lower body. A hospital spokesperson said she believed he was heading home to Los Angeles, telling People.com, "Travis is in good condition and was discharged this morning."

Barker and Goldstein are both expected to fully recover from their injuries, although the full healing process could take up to a year.

Barker and Goldstein were the sole survivors of the crash. Barker's assistant and his body guard perished from blunt force trauma, while the plane's two pilots were killed by smoke inhalation and other injuries.

According to local police, Barker and Goldstein saved their lives by exiting the plane quickly and putting out the flames on each other's bodies.

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello issues his second solo album as the Nightwatchman on today (September 30th), titled The Fabled City. Unlike his solo debut, 2007's One Man Revolution, the new disc is a mix of both electric and acoustic numbers. Morello will hit the road behind the new set in November and plans to mix up his live show as well: "Yeah, it's gonna be 50-50. Half of the show will be all acoustic, and then the other half of the show will be electric with a fully fleshed out 'Freedom Fighter Orchestra' behind me. It's not gonna be Slash and Perry Farrell, so don't get all excited. But it's friends of mine from around town, just great musicians, great friends who have tremendous improvisation skills and are fun to hang out with."

The Fabled City features guest appearances from System of a Down singer Serj Tankian and Shooter Jennings.

Morello will appear at the New Yorker Festival in New York City this Saturday (October 4th), where he'll perform and also talk with New Yorker staff writer James Surowiecki.

Newly confirmed Tom Morello solo dates (subject to change):
November 1 - San Francisco, CA - The Fillmore
November 2 - Portland, OR - Wonder Ballroom

Staind vocalist Aaron Lewis has announced that he'll play a handful of solo dates in January and February, according to Harddrive Radio. Lewis traditionally heads out for some solo acoustic gigs shortly after the New Year. He's also been on the road with Staind this fall, promoting the band's new The Illusion of Progress record, but told us that he has no problems balancing the two: "It's something I've wanted to do always. Before I ever started in this band, the acoustic thing is what I did. That's what my dad did when I was a kid, and it's something I've always wanted to do. If it can co-exist with Staind, then I'll really kind of be having my cake and eating it too."

The Illusion of Progress debuted at Number Three on the Billboard album chart last month, selling 92,000 copies in its first week of release.

That snapped the band's streak of three straight Number One debuts, which started with 2001's Break The Cycle and ended in 2005 with Chapter V.

Staind will kick off a new U.S. tour on Friday (October 3rd) in Verona, New York, with the band being joined on most of the dates by Seether and Papa Roach.

Aaron Lewis hopes to issue his debut solo album sometime in 2009.

2nd solo album? I didnt even know there was a first. Either way, we know what Tom can do with a guitar, eventually the techo with a guitar gets old.
