So this weekend I experienced something new (for me anyways) and that was Bockfest in downtown Cincy. So Britney one our phenomonal promotions people had us over for some adult beverages after they had finished up the Cinciditarod (which by the way a big congrats to our Frequency 94.1 friends who participated in that, next year watch out for those pesky parking meters L).
I had never heard of Bockfest but it was pretty cool... kinda felt like the fight club of beerfests as it was held in this warehouse and wasn't overly busy so obviously everyone followed rule #1 - Don't talk about Bockfest!!! Had some german beverages, they had some german food such as waffles, sauerkraut balls, sausages and fried pickles! Most memorable event at Bockfest had to be when I bounced a random sausage that was on the table we were sitting at off of Mistress Bridgette's booby and it did a sommersault and landed straight in her cup of beer. Thought she was going to go ape sh*t but she just laughed her ass off.... whew! We saw the beginning of TEAM BALLS on this night, offered Vitamin Water and Altoids to pukers, were the only white people dancing at some club later on that night and ended the night with Ramundo's/Mountain Dew & Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
So that was Saturday, obviously the Oscars were last night and I have to be honest just like in past years I haven't seen many of the movies that were up for a lot of the awards. I just don't go OUT to the movies to often unless we are doing a sneak preview of the film so Inglorious Bastards and The Hurt Locker were the only ones I was familiar with, and I'm a BIG movie guys its just usually the movies I like aren't considered "Oscar worthy" but I find em entertaining as hell.
So anyways the Neil Patrick Harris opener was stupid and unnecessary. I loved the chemistry of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, I was laughing at just about everything they did. Everyone complains about the length of the show so what does the Academy do? Add 5 more movies to the Best Picture category! OK? Not that it's a bad thing just means now you have to give each movie it's due credit throughout the show and that just drags things out furthers. Another thing that could easily have been scrapped was that silly dance routine they did to the scores of the different movies. Pretty pointless. And my only other complaint was why was Farrah Fawcett left out of the Honor Those That Passed Away segment?
The rest of the show was good though, loved the Ben Stiller dressed in Avatar gear! He cracks me up. Sandra Bullock was an easy choice for Best Actress according to most critics and Jeff Bridges winning was cool cause we got to see his "inner dude" on stage which was a highlight. He's always been one hell of an actor. And then The Hurt Locker grabbing Best Picture and having our first female director winner in Kathryn Bigelow were very well deserved. I'm just glad a movie like The Hurt Locker which is small time budget but based on real life events and emotions was able to upset Avatar (which I haven't seen and have heard good things about) which is based on CGI effects, 3-D vision and fantasy. Good job Academy!
