The Beastie Boys are hoping to have "Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1" in stores in September, one year later than it was initially supposed to arrive. The disc was delayed after rapper Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous salivary gland tumor last July. But after treatment Yauch says he's starting to feel better. He tells EW.com, quote, "It was touch and go there for a while, but I am finally getting my energy back." Yauch notes the goal now is to have their music ready for a fall release. He admits it still depends on his health, and they still have to, quote, "play it by ear." Yauch says the group will revisit the album shortly to make sure they are still happy with the material and determine if they want to make additions or changes.

Hellyeah is working toward a new album and it may have some new flavor to it. Drummer Vinnie Paul tells Revolver TV, quote, "It picks up where the last record left off. It's a little more Southern, a little more rock and roll. It's got some very, very metal moments on it, too." He adds, quote, "It's just a wide variety of all the different kind of influences that all of us grew up on and I'm really proud of it." Paul says the band is three-quarters of the way through the disc, and still expects to have it ready to hit stores on June 1st. The still-untitled effort will be Hellyeah's follow up to their 2007 self-titled debut.

Sparklehorse leader Mark Linkous has died at his own hands. "Rolling Stone" reports that his family confirmed Linkous' March 6th suicide, stating, quote, "We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There's a heaven and there's a start for you." Linkous was briefly pronounced dead in 1996 after ingesting a mix of Valium and antidepressants, but he recovered crippled from the incident. He continued to record music over the years, and most recently teamed with Danger Mouse and David Lynch on the "Dark Night Of The Soul" album. The disc was shelved last year due to legalities, but last week it was revealed that Danger Mouse and EMI had worked out the issues and the CD would finally arrive later this year. Linkous had reportedly been wrapping up a new album at the time of his death.
