NEWARK, New Jersey — A TV crew reportedly working for CNBC was arrested Thursday at Newark Liberty International Airport after they tried to sneak a fake explosive device through security, officials say. According to nj.com, eight people were detained by agents with the Transportation Security Administration.
The fake device was a piece of PVC pipe with wires sticking out of it, nj.com reports. It was determined to be no danger. ABC News reports some members of the crew tried to sneak the fake explosive through security at about 3 p.m. while others secretly filmed their effort. The device was in a rolling bag.A source tells nj.com the crew was from the Endemol Shine Group, a Dutch production company that contracts with CNBC.
